Actor Kamal Haasan joins Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra

Actor and politician Kamal Haasan, President of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) joined the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in New Delhi on Saturday. During a speech at the Red Fort, Kamal Haasan stated that he was there as an Indian, that his father was a Congressman and that he started his own political party based on his own ideologies.


Many MNM functionaries too joined in the Yatra as they felt that the march was for the nation and beyond parties. Kamal Haasan disclosed that he was invited by Rahul Gandhi to take part in the Bharat Jodo Yatra as a fellow citizen and not as the leader of a political party.
The Yatra began in Kanya Kumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7th with Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin handing over the national flag to Rahul Gandhi in the presence of senior Congress leaders.

PM Modi congratulates new PM of Nepal

Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been elected as the new Prime Minister of Nepal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him and said that he looks forward to working with him to strengthen ties between India and Nepal. India and Nepal are said to have a deep cultural connection with each other.


Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader of the parliamentary party of the Communist Party of Nepal as the Prime Minister of Nepal. Pushpa Kamal is better known as ‘Prachanda’ and will be sworn in today. This is the third time that the former Maoist rebel leader will be the Prime Minister of Nepal. He served earlier in 2008-2009 but had to step down due to a political crisis. He again took over in 2016 from Oli when there was an economic blockade of Nepal during 2015 -16 by the Madhesi agitators.

RCM’s Mobile Health Clinic launch at Ripon Building, Chennai

The Rotary Club of Madras and Greater Chennai Corporation were proud to launch RCM’s Mobile Health Clinic on the 23rd of December, 2022 at the Ripon Building, Chennai. The clinic was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Shankar Lal Kumawat I.A.S., Joint Commissioner (Health), Shri Gagandeep Singh Bedi (I.A.S. Principal Secretary/Commissioner),  Ms. R. Priya (Honourable Mayor) and Jayshree Sridhar (President of the Rotary Club of Madras).

The bus is fitted with the latest Dental chair and X-RAY also all other requisite equipment to treat school children. The van will go to all the Corporation schools in Chennai City and children will be given Dental Screening and treatment. It will go to 281 schools spread across the city and cater to approximately 99000 school children.

Charles Sobhraj’s wife discloses his future plans

Nihita Biswas, a lawyer who married serial killer Charles Sobhraj in 2008 spoke to reporters about the future plans after the release of her husband. She stated that she was elated on his long awaited release and that he has to have a proper health check up. According to her, plans are being made to send him back to his family in France for security reasons. Sobhraj had a heart surgery and he may need another one.


Charles Sobhraj was released from Central Jail in Nepal on Friday after the court ordered his release on grounds of old age and deteriorating health condition. The court held that the 78 year old Sobhraj should be released as he had already completed 95% of his jail term. The court also ordered the government to make arrangements for repatriating Sobhraj to his home country within 15 days.

Tallest statue of Lord Krishna to come up in Gujarat

The world’s tallest statue of Lord Krishna will be installed at Dwarka town as part of the ‘Devbhumi Dwarka Corridor’ work on the first phase. This announcement was made by Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel who also happens to be the spokesperson of the state government.


According to the Minister, the BJP government has decided to develop the ‘Devbhumi Dwarka Corridor’ to make it the biggest religious centre in western India. There will be a viewing gallery from where people can see the remains of the lost city of Dwarka. Work on this project is expected to start in September next year.
Apart from installing the world’s tallest statue of Lord Krishna, a Shirmad Bhagwad Geeta experience zone will also come up in the town that is known for the world famous Dwarkadish Temple.

Christmas without the Queen would feel different says Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton who is now the Princess of Wales, hosted a Christmas carol service. She paid a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth in Westminster Abbey saying that this is the first Christmas for the royal family without the Queen and that it would feel very different although they can still remember the memories and traditions that they shared.


King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, Kate and other family members took part in the carol service. It will be broadcast on Saturday. The royal family presented a unified front at the service held on the 15th of December, the same day that the final episodes of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan’s Netflix documentary series were released.Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and Harry has accused his elder brother William of screaming at him during a summit to discuss his future.

Charles Sobhraj to be released from prison on health grounds

Serial killer Charles Sobhraj who is now 78 years old who has been in prison for a very long period is to be released from a Nepal jail on health grounds. His release was ordered by Nepal’s Supreme Court.


Charles Sobhraj was linked to more than 20 murders and his victims were either strangled, beaten or burned and he is said to have used the passports of his male victims to travel to his next destination.
BBC has made a hit series on his life titled “The Serpent ” for Netflix. It is based on his ability to assume other identities in order to evade justice. He was arrested in India in 1976 and sentenced to 12 years for murder of a French tourist. He was later given a life sentence for killing a US tourist. In 2008, while in prison, he married Nihita Biswas, the daughter of his Nepalese lawyer, who is 44 years younger than him.

Bank of England unveils bank notes featuring King Charles III

On the 20th of December, the Bank of England unveiled the design of bank notes featuring King Charles III. These notes are expected to enter circulation by mid 2024. It is said to be a significant moment as the King is only the second monarch to feature on bank notes.


The portrait of the King will appear on existing designs on all four polymer bank notes with no other changes to the existing designs. King Charles became King after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8th this year. It is reported that these new bank notes will be printed only to replace worn bank notes and to meet any overall increase in demand for bank notes. This move will minimise the environmental and financial impact of this change. Earlier this month, the first coins with the image of the King were released.

Carpenter from UP converts car into helicopter

Salman, a carpenter from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh converted his Nano car into a helicopter that can run on the road. It took him about 4 months and cost him around Rs 3 lakh to do this transformation.


There is a high demand for this helicopter and people are gathering in large numbers to get a ride in this helicopter that runs on the road. Many people who have not got a chance to fly in a real helicopter that flies in the air, have got the feel of a helicopter through this unique vehicle.
Salman feels that this idea can be taken forward and similar inventions can be done. If the government and companies come forward to lend a helping hand, helicopters that run on water and air can also be made.

Messi and his team mates evacuated by helicopter due to huge crowds

Millions of people in Argentina took to the streets in Buenos Aires to celebrate the victory of Argentina in the FIFA World Cup. The huge crowds disrupted a planned parade route in an open-top bus and instead Messi and his team mates had to fly over the city in helicopters.


This is the third World Cup title for Argentina and it comes after a gap of 36 years. A video that was shared on social media showed a fan dropping from a bridge onto the team bus carrying Messi and another fan missing the bus and falling into the crowd. Due to this, the head of the Football Association, Chirqui Tapia said that the players were unable to continue by bus.
President Alberto Fernandez declared a national holiday for the celebrations. Messi, a local hero, is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time.
