Indian-American Neal Mohan to become YouTube CEO

The chief product officer of YouTube Neal Mohan will be the new head of the world’s largest online video platform. The current Chief Executive Officer Susan Wojcicki will be stepping down after being at the helm for 9 years.


Susan Wojcicki, 54 was previously a senior vice president for ad products at Google. She became CEO of YouTube in 2014. She was one of Google’s earliest employees and has worked with the parent company Alphabet Inc for almost 25 years. She stated that she will now focus on family, health and personal projects.
Indian American Neal Mohan will join a growing list of Indian-origin CEOs at the helm of US-based global giants including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayan and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. He joined Google, the parent company of YouTube in 2008. He is a Stanford graduate who earlier worked for Microsoft. He became the chief product officer of YouTube in 2015.

Joe Biden declared medically fit ahead of 2024 Presidential polls

US President Joe Biden is the oldest person ever to be President. He was declared ”fit for duty” by his doctor after his annual medical check-up before he is expected to run for re-election in 2024 when he will be 82.


The report shows that barring some minor issues, Biden was clear of any physical or neurological problems and that he was fit to successfully execute the duties of President. This was declared by Biden’s physician Kevin O’ Connor in a letter published by the White House.
Though Biden has not declared a reelection, he is expected to do so shortly. Biden is said to have healthy habits. He does not use tobacco products, does not drink alcohol and works out for at least five days in a week. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 178 pounds which is approximately 80.7 kgs.

UK First Lady spotted holidaying in Goa

Akshata Murty, wife of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was spotted holidaying on a beach in South Goa along with her mother Sudha Murty and her two daughters. They were recognised by a fisherman when they approached him to inquire about the safety of water sports at the tourist attraction.


The fisherman called Pele by the locals uploaded the picture taken with Akshata and her mother Sudha Murty on social media. Pele stated that the meeting with them was a very humbling experience as they were down to earth people.
Akshata’s father Narayana Murty is the founder of Infosys while Sudha Murty is an author, philanthropist and the chairperson of non-profit Infosys Foundation.
Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty got married in 2009 and they have two daughters- Anoushka and Krishna..

Mark Zuckerberg’s security allowance increased to $14 million

According to Meta Platforms Inc, the security allowance given to Chief Executive and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and his family has been increased by $4 million to $14 million. This increased allowance is said to be necessary under the circumstances. This move comes when he cut thousands of jobs and slashed spending plans and Zuckerberg has called it the ”Year of Efficiency”.


Zuckerberg is 38 years old and is the 16th richest person in the Forbes billionaire list. He is said to have earned a compensation of about $27 million in 2021. However his pay package for the year 2022 has not yet been disclosed. It has also been reported that Meta has delayed finalizing the budgets of multiple teams as it was preparing for a fresh round of job cuts.

Hundreds of couples got married in Mexico on Valentines Day

In a mass ceremony, hundreds of couples got married in Mexico on Valentines Day. It is reported that 35 same-sex couples too got married in the ceremony.
The authorities provided make-up and hairdressing service for those who took part in the ceremony.


Mexico which is the most populated of the country’s 32 states approved same-sex marriage law in October last year more than a decade after it became the first to celebrate same-sex unions in 2010.
”It’s an important date for us because we met on February 14” said 24 year old Sarai Vargas who married her partner Yazmin Acosta, 27. She stated that she was happy as same-sex marriages were legalized in Mexico and so she decided to marry her partner this year.
A council official stated that though mass weddings lacked intimacy, they came with perks like free marriage certificates.

Elon Musk gets new CEO for Twitter

As soon as Elon Musk took over Twitter in the $44 billion dollar deal, he fired CEO Parag Agrawal. He has now found a new CEO who is not a human but his pet dog Floki, a Shibu Inu.
Elon Musk also fired Twitter’s legal head Vijaya Gadde and CFO Nel Segal. He has shared the picture of his pet dog Floki sitting in the CEO’s chair wearing a Twitter branded black T-shirt with the letters CEO written on it. The picture shows a couple of documents lying on the table which also has a small laptop with a Twitter logo.


Musk tweeted that the new CEO is much better than the ”other”guy. Agrawal was promoted as the CEO of Twitter in November last year after former CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down from his role. Musk had put an end to Agrawal’s decade long association with Twitter by terminating him and paying him a compensation of USD 30.4 million.

Britain’s Queen Consort Camilla tests positive for Covid-19

Britain’s Queen consort, Camilla, the 75 year old wife of King Charles III , has tested positive for Covid-19 according to a report from Buckingham Palace. All her engagements for the week have been cancelled.


The Queen Consort first had symptoms of a cold but later on tested positive for the Covid virus. She had several engagements across the West Midlands region of England including the centenary celebrations of Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The Queen Consort was also planning to visit the Southwater One Library in Telford to thank the staff and volunteers for their contribution to the community. Now all these events have been postponed and a fresh date will have to be fixed. The Queen consort has sent her apologies to all those who were to attend these events.

Anonymous Pakistani national donates $30 million for Turkey

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has claimed that an anonymous Pakistani national has donated $30 million to the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake. It is reported that the philanthropist walked into the Turkish embassy in the United States and made the donation. Turkey and Syria were struck by an earthquake on February 6 leaving more than 33,000 people dead.


This declaration by the Pakistan Prime Minister was not appreciated by Pakistani citizens and they raised questions as to why the philanthropist did not donate the money to Pakistan as the country is going through an economic crisis.
Pakistan is currently facing an unprecedented economic crisis and its foreign reserves have dropped to the lowest level since 1998 at around USD 3 billion. Meanwhile Islamabad and the International Monetary Fund have pledged to continue their loan negotiations after they failed to reach a deal last week.

Civil servant couple opted for low key wedding to sponsor education of orphans

Shivam Tyagi and Arya Nair, both civil servants, decided to have a low-key wedding in Kerala in the presence of family members and close friends and decided to use the money they would have spent for a lavish wedding to sponsor the education of 20 orphan children.


This noble gesture of the couple is going viral on social media and they are getting a lot of appreciation from all quarters.
Their marriage was held at a sub-registrar office in Pampady under the Special Marriages Act and the couple had a difficult time to convince their parents who finally agreed to their wish.
While Shivam Tyagi, a native of Delhi is posted as the superintendent of the Indian Postal Service in Ahmedabad, Arya is training for Indian Revenue Service in Nagpur. Both of them have rejoined work following the wedding.

King Charles to invite Harry and Meghan for his coronation

The coronation of King Charles III will take place on May 6. His Majesty King Charles III will be crowned alongside The Queen Consort. According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, preparations are going on in full swing for the much awaited ceremony.


Though it is stated that the Royal Family is in no mood to entertain Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, King Charles III will invite them for the ceremony as it is the right thing to do and is hopeful that it will pave the way for peace.
Things have not been the same since the release of Prince Harry’s memoir Spare as he has made many shocking revelations about the royal family. It is expected that Harry and Meghan will attend the ceremony but the members of the Royal Family will be only willing to discuss the weather.
