Chennai holds a candlelight vigil

Chennai held a candlelight vigil to join the nationwide protests against the attack of JNU students in New Delhi. Violence broke out on Sunday as masked, armed men entered the campus and attacked students and teachers and also damaged property.
More than 30 persons were injured in the attack. About 50 masked men entered the campus with rods and hammers, started throwing stones and attacked students and teachers. Even the girl students were not spared. In a show of solidarity with the JNU students, more than 1000 students, advocates and social activists  from Chennai, assembled at the Valluvar Kottam took part in the candlelight vigil and raised slogans condemning the attack on the JNU students. They held placards and demanded action against those who attacked the students.
