Users of WhatsApp received four messages on their status from WhatsApp reassuring them of their privacy. This move comes after several users migrated to Signal and Telegram. The four messages that were displayed on users status are as follows:- We are committed to your privacy, WhatsApp can’t read or listen to your personal conversations as they are end -to-end encrypted, WhatsApp can’t see your shared location and WhatApp doesn’t share your contacts with Facebook.

They have also delayed the implementation of a new privacy policy by three months. It is this privacy policy that caused them to lose many users as many of them have migrated to rivals like Signal and Telegram. The change was to take effect from the 8th of February but the backlash they received from users has made them to defer it’s implementation.
WhatsApp also put up a blog post and attempted to clear the confusion in the minds of users. The said blog post stated that there is a lot of misinformation being spread around that is causing concern and attempted to help users to understand their facts and principles. It also added that WhatsApp was built on a simple idea and said that it would protect personal conversations of users.
