President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is likely to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican this weekend. Diplomatic sources said that though the trip has been planned, it has not been officially announced.
This planned visit is just two weeks after Pope Francis said that the Vatican is on a peace mission in order to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
There has been no official confirmation of this trip from Kyiv and Zelensky’s office usually does not disclose any of his travel plans ahead of time due to security concerns.
However, a political source from Italy confirmed that President Zelensky might visit Rome this weekend and that he may also have a meeting with Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni.
