Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has received a death threat by a letter sent to her residence in Versova in Mumbai. She approached the Versova police station and lodged a complaint against unidentified persons. The Mumbai police have launched an investigation into the matter. The police have registered a non-cognisable offence against unidentified persons based on the complaint.
The threat letter is written in Hindi and states that the youth of the country will not tolerate the insult of Veer Savarkar. The threat was issued to the actress as a result of her alleged insult to politician and activist Veer Savarkar.
Businessman Vijay Mallya has been in Britain for over 5 years. He is now making attempts to overturn a bankruptcy order imposed on him by the London High Court in July last year.
The case relates to a consortium of Indian banks led by State Bank of India to get repayment of an estimated debt of around GBP 1.05 billion that is due by the now defunct Kingfisher Airlines.
Mallya who is wanted on fraud and money laundering charges in India is on bail in the UK. Indian banks are represented by the law firm TLT LLP and barrister Marcia Shekerdemian . The bankruptcy order was passed against Mallya on July 26, 2021. Appeals against the order are being filed and will come up for hearing in the coming months.

Suriya is the first Tamil actor to get an invitation to join the Oscar organiser’s membership committee. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts Sciences invited 397 artists and executives to join the Class of 2022.
The Class of 2022 will include 71 Oscar nominees and 15 winners. Along with Suriya, Kajol and Reema Kagti are part of the team.
Oscar winners of the year Ariana DeBose, Troy Kotsur and writer, director Sian Heder have been invited to the Directors and Writers branches.
Others who have been extended the invitation this year include Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, Caitrione Balfe, Jesse Buckley, Olga Merediz, Kodi Smit-MPhee, Anya Taylor Joy.
After Mukesh Ambani stepped down as Director of Reliance Jio, his son Akash Ambani was named chairman of the board at Reliance Jio. Akash was previously a non- executive director at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.

The Opposition’s presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha will be filing his nomination today. Leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh will accompany the 84 year old Sinha. As he files his nomination papers.
Yashwant Sinha is a former Union Minister and was chosen as the consensus candidate from the joint opposition for the upcoming Presidential elections to be held on July 18.
Sinha said that a ”rubber-stamp president” will not work in the country and he thanked all the political parties who gave him the opportunity to contest the election. Sinha joined TMC last year and was made the vice-president of the party. He quit the BJP in 2018.
Meanwhile the other Presidential candidate backed by the BJP, Droupadi Murmu filed her nomination on June 25 in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders.
