India Luxury Style Week At Bangalore – Day 1

India’s first ever Men’s fashion week, ILSW  the Men’s edition, 2015 kick-started in Bangalore with a bang! The event has been conceptualised and produced by none other than Ramesh Dembla in collaboration with Indian cinema’s superstar, Akshay Kumar!

The first show was kicked off by designer, Gagan Kumar, His collection focused on vibrant colours celebrating life. The list of celebrities who have been styled by Gagan’s designs are Sameera Reddy and Koena Mitra. The second designer to showcase his collection was an award winning designer, Abhishek Dutta. His display comprised of wedding wear and rugged yet uniquely wearable jackets for men.The celebrities who have been styled by Abhishek are; Abhishek Bachhan, John Abraham and Irrfan Khan!

Kirti Rathod was in line next to showcase her collection on the ramp. Kirti’s collection comprised of quirky jackets, pullovers, t-shirts and bandis which can be worn easily and is extremely wearable. The showstopper for Kirti’s show was Aijaaz Khan of Bigg Boss fame.

The day’s finale was concluded by celebrated and the award winning duo designers, Dev R Nil. This duo’s clothes have been bestselling for men since a while and to have them at a men’s fashion week just seemed mandatory. Dev R Nil’s designs have been sported on several of B-Towns A listers such as Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, Kajol & Tabu.

Day two started great pomp and fanfare as Himmat Singh from Jaipur commenced the evening with a royal entrance! Himmat’s clothes reflected the royal era and lineage that Rajasthan is famed for

with form fitted jackets, extravagant yet classic sherwanis, and stately bandh galas. It therefore does not come as a surprise to know that celebrities like Abhishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Navjot Singh Sidhu are loyal fans of his creations. The highlight of this show was undoubtedly the showstopper’s entrance to his hit song, none other than Rahul Roy to the Aashiqui title track wearing a sherwani that was fit for a king!

The following show was by designer Shravan Ramaswamy. “Indralok- An Ode to the Weaves and Weavers” was a revival of ethnic and regal eco friendly fabrics and prints wherein Shravan took inspiration from Jamini Roy’s style of art. His show stoppers were from Southern cinema, namely Shubra Aiyappa, Praniti Rai and Ragini Dwivedi.

The day’s event was concluded by Rohit Verma who is winner of several international awards, bridal wear, pret and couture evening gowns and more. This collection reflected the grandeur associated with the Indian Mogul era with vibrant and striking colours. The stage was set for fashion and theatre with the last show of day two, the showstopper was none other than Indian television’s favourite chocolate boy Rohit Roy.

This restaurant , set by the beach is absolutely gorgeous. It manages to cater to families , with a pool in  the middle as well as dimly lit couple seats that are beach facing .The restaurant also has a spa to relax at and then you can proceed to a  scrumptious meal. Being by the seaside the fresh seafood is a must try . We had the fried calamari that was tossed in a red sauce which was mouth watering , as well as the beer battered prawns which were huge and perfectly seasoned. On the whole it is a lovely place to spend the day have a swim, eat  get a nice massage and eat some delicious food  to end the day .

This restaurant has been making waves across the city recently and we decided to check it out . The food varies from different parts of India . We tried the Prawn Koliwada which was crunchy and perfectly cooked .  We also tried the Paneer Tikka which melted in your mouth . For mains we had had a mutton curry that was rich and full of flavour with Naans, On the whole the food was amazing leaving you with a full stomach and a craving to come back again.

It was the love for colour and craft; passion for all things earthy and timeless that inspired Anuradha Anuradha SinghSingh to work in the area of textile and fashion design. After formal training, she was attracted with traditional hand block prints and hand-looms fabrics in natural dyes of India. She was actively involved in teaching, curriculum planning and annual fashion shows conducted in various institutes.

She has also worked in some of the cluster development government programs, where she was involved in giving design inputs to the weavers. Her passion to work with artisans and their craft took her to the villages of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. She conceptualized ‘Samprada’ before she quit her last job as a coordinator and head of the department of Fashion & Interior Design for New Delhi YMCA. She wanted to bring the ethnic weaving craft of India mix and blend it with modern fashion and create a new dimension for weavers and drapers alike, and thus Samprada was born.
