Mike Tyson shares screen space with Vijay Deverakonda in Liger

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is making his debut in Indian cinema and will be sharing screen space with Vijay Deverakonda in the film Liger. The film is currently in the post-production phase.


The much awaited film will release in theatres in August this year. Vijay Deverakonda is playing the role of a boxer in the film and Mike Tyson will be playing a special role in it. It has scenes where Vijay gets beaten by Tyson.
The film is a boxing drama that is directed by Puri Jagannadh and is being jointly produced by Puri, Charmme Kaur and Karan Johar. It is tipped to be a blockbuster film.
Ananya Pandey is making her foray into Telugu cinema with this film. The supporting cast comprises Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Ali Basha and Makarand Deshpande.

Photographer detained for flying drone in Madras High Court campus

A photographer named M.Vishal from Porur was detained by the city police for attempting to fly a drone inside the Madras High Court campus without permission.
He was standing at the south gate of the court and wanted to capture the court campus by using a drone to record visuals for a wedding album. The CISF personnel saw the flying object and apprehended Vishal and took him to the police station.


On enquiry, it was found that he was shooting for a wedding video and therefore wanted to capture visuals of the High Court. He however did not have the required permission and it was therefore illegal to shoot in sensitive areas.
The photographer was booked under Section 287 of the Indian Penal Code for negligent conduct with respect to machinery, The police seized the drone and equipment that was worth around Rs 2.5

Isaac Newton predicted that the world will end in 2060

Sir Isaac Newton had predicted that the world would come to an end in the year 2060. He made this prediction in 1706.
His letter that was exhibited at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem shows his prophetic algorithms and calculations. After combining all nodes, he made a prediction about the end of the world.


Newton was born on January 4th 1643 in England. He was said to be very unconventional, strange and awkward. He was fascinated with science and folklore- based ideologies.He was considered to be the greatest minds that this world has seen. He was also a great mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian and author. One of his most famous laws is the law of motion.
He was knighted by Queen Anne of England in 1705 making him Sir Isaac Newton.

Will Smith makes a public apology for slapping Chris Rock

Actor Will Smith tendered an apology for slapping comedian Chris Rock during the Oscar ceremony. Will Smith was later named best actor. He lost his cool when Chris Rock passed snide remarks about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.


Will Smith issued an apology on Instagram that he is embarrassed about his actions and said that his conduct was unacceptable and inexcusable. He said that the joke on his wife’s medical condition was too much for him to bear and it made him react emotionally.
Will’s wife suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss and that was the reason she had a closely cropped haircut at the Oscar Awards ceremony.
He also apologised to the Academy, the producers of the show, the attendees and to the people who watched the show from across the globe.

Transportation affected in Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu

Due to the nationwide strike called for by the trade unions, around 90 percent of buses of Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) did not ply today. Many employees abstained from work even though the government warned them that their salaries would be cut.
According to official data, there are 3,175 buses that are operated in Chennai. Today, only 318 are operating, while in the entire state of Tamil Nadu, out of 15, 335 buses, only 5,000 are plying.


Due to this, students and office-goers were put to a lot of inconvenience. Even the people who came to Chennai from other districts were stranded in Koyambedu bus stand. Auto Rickshaw and taxi drivers decided to make hay while the sun shines and demanded exorbitant fares from passengers.

Hollywood actor Will Smith punched Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 after the latter made a comment in bad taste about his wife Jade Pinkett Smith.


Chris Rock made fun of Jade Pinkett Smith and said that she looked like GI Jane2. This comment infuriated Will Smith who went on to the stage and punched Chris Rock. Many Hollywood celebrities expressed their views on the incident. Some felt it was personal while others felt that Will did a good thing to stand up for his wife and it proved that some men still love and care about their wives.
However, the official Twitter handle of the Academy while congratulating the winners, stated that it did not condone violence in any form.
This is the 94th Academy Awards and it was held in Los Angeles.

More than 1 crore children from ages 12 to 14 given first dose of Covid vaccine

According to the Union Health Ministry, more than 1 crore children in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccination drive for the age group of 12 to 14 years began on March 16. The children have been given Corbevax and will get 2 doses to be administered 28 days apart.


The Health Ministry said that over 183.83 crore people in the country have been vaccinated. More than 2.23 crore precaution doses have been administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and to the people over 60 years of age.
The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase.
The nationwide drive began in January last year when healthcare workers were vaccinated in the first phase. Frontline workers received their dose from February 2. People over 60 received their dose from March 1 and those above 45 from April 1. The vaccination drive was expanded and those over 18 were eligible to get vaccinated from May 1.
From January this year, children in the age group 15 to 18 received their shots.

Ravindra Jadeja is the new CSK captain

Ravindra Jadeja has taken over as the new captain of Chennai Super Kings team. He will captain the side for the upcoming season of IPL.


Dhoni quit as the captain of Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday and brought the curtains down on a successful stint of captaincy. He handed over the reins to Ravindra Jadeja. Dhoni will however continue to represent the team. He continued to play in the Indian Premier League even after he announced his retirement from international cricket. His decision to hand over leadership to Jadeja did not come as a surprise and was expected by many.

Actor Simbu’s car runs over homeless man and kills him

Actor Simbu’s driver was arrested after the car owned by Simbu ran over and killed a homeless man in Chennai. The victim is a 70 year old pavement dweller named Munusamy who was crawling across the road when the car owned by Simbu ran over him while trying to negotiate a turn at around 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday.


The victim suffered head injuries, injuries to his hip and legs. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
CCTV footage of the accident shows how the car ran over the old man leaving him injured on the road and the car fleeing without even stopping. Some bystanders ran behind the car but did not succeed. The victim was immediately taken to Government Royapettah Hospital where he passed away.
The car driver has been arrested by the police. It is not sure if either the actor or any of his family members were present in the car at the time of the accident.

Putin advisor quits Russian government to protest against Ukraine invasion

Anatoly Chubais was Kremlin’s special envoy for relations with international organisations for sustainable development. He was a prominent advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He resented Russia’s attack on Ukraine and to register his protest, resigned from the government and is said to have left Russia.
His whereabouts have not been confirmed but according to some media reports, he was spotted in Turkey.


Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov confirmed the news that Chubais resigned from his post but did not confirm if he had left the country. It is believed that he was not a very influential member in the government and did not have a say in security affairs.
He showed signs of discontent after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. There were widespread anti-war protests by the people of Russia but very few government officials showed their protest openly.
