Anatoly Chubais was Kremlin’s special envoy for relations with international organisations for sustainable development. He was a prominent advisor to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He resented Russia’s attack on Ukraine and to register his protest, resigned from the government and is said to have left Russia.
His whereabouts have not been confirmed but according to some media reports, he was spotted in Turkey.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov confirmed the news that Chubais resigned from his post but did not confirm if he had left the country. It is believed that he was not a very influential member in the government and did not have a say in security affairs.
He showed signs of discontent after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. There were widespread anti-war protests by the people of Russia but very few government officials showed their protest openly.
