Photographer detained for flying drone in Madras High Court campus

A photographer named M.Vishal from Porur was detained by the city police for attempting to fly a drone inside the Madras High Court campus without permission.
He was standing at the south gate of the court and wanted to capture the court campus by using a drone to record visuals for a wedding album. The CISF personnel saw the flying object and apprehended Vishal and took him to the police station.


On enquiry, it was found that he was shooting for a wedding video and therefore wanted to capture visuals of the High Court. He however did not have the required permission and it was therefore illegal to shoot in sensitive areas.
The photographer was booked under Section 287 of the Indian Penal Code for negligent conduct with respect to machinery, The police seized the drone and equipment that was worth around Rs 2.5
