Maana is the first female and third Indian swimmer to qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Maana,  21 year old swimmer from Ahmedabad has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.  She is the third Indian swimmer and the first female swimmer to qualify for the Olympics this year. Earlier, Sajan Prakash, police officer from Kerala had qualified with an A cut in 200m butterfly held in Rome.  Srihari Nataraj also qualified with an ‘A’ standard after FINA approved his qualification time in the men’s 100m backstroke time trial held at the Sette Colli trophy held in Rome, Italy.

It is indeed a proud moment for India as its sports stars get an opportunity to compete at the Olympics.  After the delay due to the pandemic, the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Olympics is scheduled for July 23rd, 2021.
