Indian men’s hockey team win bronze at Olympics


After 41 years, the Indian men’s hockey team won a bronze medal at the Olympics by defeating Germany 5-4 in a thrilling match.
Simranjeet Singh, Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh scored goals for India. The goals were scored in the 17th, 27th, 29th, 31st and 34th minute of the game..
The goal scorers for Germany were Timur Oruz, Niklas Wellen, Benedict Furk and Lucas Windfeder and were scored in the 2nd, 24th, 25th and 48th minute respectively.

The Indians were determined to win the game and fought back from a two goal deficit and turned the game in their favour.
The Indian team is led by Manpreet Singh and coached by Australian Graham Reid. It is India’s third hockey bronze medal in the history of the Olympics. The first two were won in 1968 in Mexico City and in 1972 in Munich.
For team Germany, it was a heartbreaking loss.
The whole country is elated with this win and congratulatory messages are pouring in for team India.
