A woman from Ghaziabad named Deepali Tyagi is a pure vegetarian. She placed an order for a vegetarian pizza from a pizza outlet in Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh for her family during the Holi celebrations. The pizza was not only delivered late but instead of mushroom it had pieces of meat. Deepali took a bite of the pizza without noticing that it was non-veg. She immediately called customer care and raised a complaint of gross negligence as they delivered a non-veg pizza to a pure vegetarian.

A few days later, a manager from the pizza outlet called Deepali and promised to deliver pizzas for the whole family free of cost. However, Deepali told him that it was not a simple error as the outlet had hurt the religious beliefs of the family and caused mental agony. She further stated that she will have to perform several long and expensive rituals during her entire life which would cost her lakhs of rupees. She later filed a complaint before the consumer court claiming Rs 1 crore as compensation for having to undergo arduous and expensive rituals to undo the damage.
