Volker Wissing, Germany’s Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, visited Bengaluru in India to attend the G20 Digital Ministers Meeting on August 19. He had the opportunity to experience the simplicity of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) while shopping for groceries.

The German Embassy in India posted videos and pictures of Volker Wissing purchasing groceries and paying through UPI. It also praised India’s infrastructure and said that it was one of the country’s success stories. The Minister himself was fascinated with the transaction that just took him a few seconds to complete. Unified Payments Interface is India’s fastest payment system and enables customers to make payments instantly and round the clock too. So far, Sri Lanka, France, UAE., and Singapore have partnered with India on emerging fintech and payment solutions.
