Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh was arrested for a short while and later released on bail in Haryana on Saturday.
According to the police, this was due to a casteist slur against cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal in an Instagram live video in June 2020. In fact, Yuvraj apologised for his unintentional remarks and stated that his remarks were misunderstood.

As per the orders of the court, Yuvraj Singh was arrested and later released on interim bail. This was due to a complaint filed by a Dalit activist in Haryana who demanded Yuvraj’s arrest and a registration of a case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, that aims to prohibit discrimination. A First Information Report was filed in the case on the orders of the court.
Yuvraj is said to have surrendered before the police in Hisar where he was questioned for about three hours and then arrested. He was then released on bail bonds.
