The Madras High Court has convicted a YouTuber named A. Sankar to six months imprisonment for criminal contempt. A bench comprising Justice GR Swaminathan and B.Pugalendhi passed the order.

Sankar had made statements that the entire higher judiciary was riddled with corruption. He has been attacking all the three organs of the State and has been making offending statements. He is already facing criminal contempt proceedings and instead of expressing remorse for his statements, he has reiterated that he will continue to attack the judiciary.
Sankar has admitted to have made statements that denigrate and deride the judiciary. The bench stated that Sankar could not tarnish the entire institution and his statement that all judges are corrupt and dishonest made him guilty of criminal contempt.
