UK PM’s cabinet gets Indian origin Minister

Claire Coutinho, 38, has become the new Indian origin minister in the UK Cabinet after Home Secretary Suella Braverman. She is said to be a close aide of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and was made minister after a mini reshuffle of the Cabinet that was done on Thursday.

Claire will be the new Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary. She will have a tough time ahead due to soaring energy costs caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Claire has replaced Grant Shapps after he was promoted to the post of Defence Secretary. She is delighted to be appointed to this post and has pledged to work with the Prime Minister to safeguard energy security, reduce bills for families and to build cleaner, cheaper and homegrown energy.
She holds a Master’s degree in Maths and Philosophy from Oxford Universityand was elected member of Parliament for East Surrey, south-east England in 2019.
