Three girls from a private orphanage in Krishnagiri district drowned while playing in a rainwater filled pit. It is alleged that the girls died due to the negligence of the orphanage authorities. The girls M Chitra, M Jesu Priya and Anushka along with other children from the orphanage were taken to a farm owned by the orphanage at Gangamaduvu village which is 5 kms away from Nachikuppam.
The three girls were found missing and when a search was conducted to trace them, their bodies were found floating on the water in a rainwater pit of the Gupta river. Their bodies were sent for a post mortem to the government hospital mortuary. The police have registered a case and are conducting investigations. Meanwhile the Krishnagiri police have appealed to the people not to allow children to play in lakes or other water bodies without adult supervision.
