Students skip lunch sans onions

Many school students  in government schools in Telangana district chose to skip lunch as it tasted insipid sans onions. Mid day meal workers have removed onions and eggs from the menu after prices increased. This made the food tasteless and many students skipped meals and started carrying packed lunch from home. The price of eggs had increased to Rs 6 and the workers were unable to provide the students with eggs thrice a week and had to skip them altogether.
Even the vegetable biryani that was served on Saturday, has been stopped. Now around 30 percent of the students have started skipping meals as they were forced to eat  tasteless watery sambhar  Some schools have started using cabbage as a substitute for onions. When the officials from the Department of Public Instruction were contacted, they acknowledged the facts and said that they were helpless due to the extremely high prices.
