It was no doubt that the combo of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in the 2010 thriller ‘Raavan’ was definitely forgettable. However, it turns out, that Abhishek Bachchan was not the first choice for Raavan. In a recent interview, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he had been offered the film as well. The actor said  “I enjoyed working with Mani Ratnam. It was fun. He wanted me to do Raavan. But I was caught up then. Also, it was bilingual. I found it difficult to do that,”

SRK had worked with Mani Ratnam for Dil Se (1998), which starred Manisha Koirala. Though the songs from the film are still a favourite with many today, the film had failed to meet box office expectations. Currently, SRK is facing a slight decline in his career as his past few films didn’t win the hearts of the fans. On the work front, SRK was last seen in Zero, where he played the role of a vertically challenged man. The film was unable to cross Rs 100 crore. SRK has been in the news for the film Saare Jahaan Se Achha, which is a biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma. It is still unclear whether he is still a part of the film.

SRK will reprise his role as a gangster in Don 3, that is being called Don: The Final Chapter. The first film in the franchise, Don, which also starred Priyanka Chopra, was well received by the audience. The sequel Don 2 released in 2010 was also a box office success. In the past two instalments of Don, Shah Rukh Khan has romanced Priyanka Chopra. The lead actress for Don: The Final Chapter, however, has not been finalised yet.
