President to unveil Karunanidhi’s portrait on August 2

President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the centenary celebrations of the Tamil Nadu Assembly that was established in 1921. During this event, he will unveil a portrait of the late DMK chief and former chief minister M.Karunanidhi in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Hall on the 2nd of August.


Speaker M. Appavu said that the event will take place in the Assembly Hall in Fort St. George at 5 p.m.
The President has agreed to attend the event and will be the Chief Guest. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit will also participate in the function. The President will also lay the foundation for a library in memory of Karunanidhi in Madurai, open a multi-speciality hospital in Guindy as well as inaugurate a memorial pillar on the Marina to mark the platinum jubilee of India’s independence.
Chief Minister MK Stalin had met the President at the Raj Bhavan during his visit to New Delhi and personally invited him for all the events.
