PM to host Paralympians on their return

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the Paralympians on their return to India.
He praised the Prime Minister for devoting time with the athletes. The PM had earlier hosted the Olympians when they returned to the country. He stated that the PM always had a vision for sports.


According to him, the contingent for the 2016 Paralympics was 19 and now in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics, the country won 19 medals. It goes to prove that India has performed well and has increased the medal tally by about 5 times. He congratulated all the athletes for this achievement.
He urged all the sports federations to formulate plans for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics so that India performs better.
India won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics including one gold and two silver medals and 19 medals in the Paralympics that included 5 gold and eight silver medals.
