Christian Louboutin, famed for his high heels with red soles, forayed into the beauty scene with nail polishes for Rs.3000 (approx.) a few months ago. Now, for the holiday season he has decided to up it a notch by introducing the iconic red polish for a whooping Rs.40,500 (approx), called Starlight. The bottle houses the signature red shade, and studded with 1,500 hand-applied crystals. The packaging includes a black lacquer box that’s decorated with leather and crystal flowers straight off the AW14 collection.

For the first time in watch-making, Diamonds and Pearls have been embroidered into the face of a watch. Chanel’s newest watch collection is a unique collaboration with the House of Lesage, to create Mademoiselle Prive as a showcase of the symbols Mademoiselle Chanel cherished. It uses different embroidery techniques produced with fine pearls stitched with gold and silk threads, rose-cut diamonds and flakes of gold on ink-black fabric.

A collection of contrasts divided into day and night, Rajesh Pratap Singh’s ‘Illusion’ opens with structured ensembles in very light gossamer fabrics followed by fluid silhouettes in harder opaque fabrics.

Much like Yin & Yang, opposites sometimes need to meet. These complementing contraries come together in the collection through the interweaving of pastel shades with metallic yarns into sheer glass weaves progressing to blacks and midnights with silver highlights.

With fabrics especially created for the collection, the woven experiments feature silver, stainless steel, paper aluminum, hand-woven and hand-spun khadi, silk and linen. ‘Illusion’ also revisits the statement Rajesh Pratap Singh pieces like the white shirt, bias churi sleeves, village bundi vest, structured jacket and the veil, albeit in a new avatar. The traditional frame (adda) hand embroidery technique has also been twisted to use metal parts for a modern rendering.

Elements and details featuring in the collection include flat bed knits with metal disc inserts, lit helmets, bumble bee eyes, soft tear drop neck and ear pieces, transparent graphic feet – each of which have been conceived and hand crafted at the Rajesh Pratap Singh studio.

The season’s collection inspired by art created by one of the most iconic painter’s in art history James Abbot McNeill Whistler. Designer Nakul Sen has always been “More art than fashion” and has designed these creations drawing inspiration from Whistler’s iconic paintings such as ‘The falling rocket’ and the ‘Peacock room’. The delicate craftsmanship compliments the bold colour palette curated for the collection. Which also have been inspired from the colours used by Whistler in his paintings. The collection showcases sequenced art on bold colours such as emerald green, navy blue, black,red further extending the colour palette into colours of spring.
