Actor Dharmendra discharged from hospital

Actor Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy hospital last week due to a muscle pull in the back and was discharged yesterday. The 86 year old actor posted a video on Instagram about the lessons he learned after being discharged and asked people to be careful and not to overdo things.


He was in the hospital for a few days, had a difficult time, but is now back home and is resting. On seeing his post, fans, friends and well wishers flooded the comment section with comments and good wishes. His daughter Esha Deol was one among the first ones to leave a comment. She wrote ”Love you”.
Dharmendra will be seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film has big names like Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film will be released on February 10, 2023.

Rohit Sharma, captain of the Indian cricket team celebrates his 35th birthday today. He was handed over the reins of Test captaincy in January this year after Virat Kohli gave up captaincy.


Rohit is also the captain of the ODI team and has a proven record of success. He is known to be a calm and composed person and he gets the job done with his gut feelings and data driven decisions. He is said to share a good rapport with head coach Rahul Dravid.

Pink Rickshaws to ply in Goa

Goa will have Pink Rickshaws plying on their streets shortly. It will help to generate self-employment avenues for women. Right now 17 women are being trained under this initiative.
The initiative was announced by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in order to boost women’s employment.

It is being implemented through its Economic Development Corporation. The government is partnering with Rotary Club and the new fleet will be disbursed through the Chief Minister’s Rojgar Yojana.
The first fleet of Pink Rickshaws will have 14 women drivers.

World’s oldest woman shares secret to a long life.

Sister Andre from France has now become the oldest living person in the world. She has shared her secret to a long life and that is a glass of wine everyday and chocolate. Sister Andre is exactly 118 years and 73 days old. She was officially declared as the oldest person in the world by the Guinness World Records on Monday.


Sister Andre was born on February 4, 1904. She was a governess who looked after children and she became a nun in 1944 during the second world war. She has been living in a nursing home in Toulon for the past 12 years.
The record for the oldest person ever was also held by a French lady named Jeanne Louise Calment who lived for 122 years and 164 days. She too used to have wine and chocolate regularly. Sister Andre hopes to break this record.

Head Chef of Fipola Karthik prepared and taught four scrumptious South American dishes at the Fipola Terrace for a special set of people who enjoyed the evening making Seafood Paella, Chicken Quesadillas from scratch, lamb pesto puffs and Raw mango Gazpacho. The chef had the honor of cooking with food enthusiasts, bloggers and socialites.
 
 Chef of Fipola Karthik prepared and taught four scrumptious South American dishes Among the crowd was Gemini Ganesan Daughter, Vijaya Chamundeswari and ex Taj Chef Smitha Singh, Mamtha, Mallika and many more.

The evening was very interactive with every one joining in with chef and cooking as per his instructions. The hit of the evening were the seafood Paella which is similar to a seafood biryani with crabs, squid, fish, prawns and scallops. Basics of making a tortilla was also taught to the crowd who were very excited as it was made from scratch. The evening also had a special chicken pickle that was given as a takeaway for people to enjoy! Nothing tastes better than some spicy south american cuisine on a hot summer day in Chennai and the mango Gazpacho was a great complement to beat the heat with a touch of spice.

Tomatoes thrown at French President

French President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected President and during his first appearance in public since the election, he was attacked with tomatoes. However, the tomatoes missed hitting the President and hit one of his security guards.


Immediately, his security officials covered him from all directions and even unfolded an umbrella to shield him from above. He was then moved to a safer place.
The 44 year old Macron defeated his rival Marine Le Pen and is serving his second term as President. He will have a tough time as parliamentary elections are slated for June and he would want to maintain a majority.
Many more protests are expected and police had to spray teargas to disperse demonstrators when they gathered in central Paris after the President’s re-election.

90 year old Padma Shri awardee forcefully evicted from his home

Odissi dancer Guru Mayadhar Raut is 90 years old and a Padma Shri awardee. He was mercilessly evicted from his government accommodation at the Asian Games village yesterday.

According to the government, the accommodation was cancelled and eviction notices were served. Some residents including Guru Raut approached court but lost the case. The court issued a deadline for them to move out by April 25.
The frail 90 year old Raut was evicted in a merciless manner. His belongings were seen lying on the street. His daughter Madhumita Raut slammed the government for carrying out the eviction in such an objectionable manner. She said that if she had not been with her father, he may have died. She added that such a cruel, brutal act doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world.
Raut served the country and taught his disciples under the guru-shishya tradition and  did not charge money for his services.

11 people electrocuted in Tamil Nadu Temple chariot procession

Around 11 persons including two children have been electrocuted and 15 persons were injured during a chariot procession at a temple in Thanjavur. The incident occured when the temple car came into contact with a high transmission line at Appar Madam temple in Kalimedu.


All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. A case has been registered and investigations are going on, said the Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, Tiruchirapalli.
Thousands of devotees usually take part in the annual chariot festival every year. It appears that there have been severe lapses in the security arrangements for the procession this year. Usually, power supply along the line is turned off but this time as the palanquin was not tall enough to reach the high-transmission line, supply was not turned off.
Presiden Ram Nath Kovind expressed his anguish over the death of 11 people including two small children.

PM to interact with Chief Ministers on the Covid-19 situation today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Chief Ministers of states through video conferencing regarding the Covid-19 situation in the country today. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will make a presentation at the conference.


This meeting comes at a time when several festivals like Eid, Akshaya Tritiya and Vaishakh Budh Purnima are coming up. The PM, while wishing citizens in advance,asked people to celebrate these festivals with gaiety and harmony and also to stay alert, wear masks and wash hands regularly.
New infections are being reported in the country everyday and the cumulative tally stands at 4,30, 62, 569. Active cases dropped to 15,636 and the death toll rose to 5,23,622 with Assam and Kerala reporting deaths due to the virus.
