Navjot Singh Sidhu took over as the chief of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in July this year. He resigned from the post and sent a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi saying that he will continue to serve the party. He also stated ”The collapse of a man’s character stems from the compromise corner. I can never compromise on Punjab’s future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab.”

He also posted the letter on social media.
The resignation which has come months before the Punjab elections is a shock to the Congress leadership and also a blow to them. Sidhu resigned just days after Amarinder Singh was replaced as Chief Minister of Punjab.
