Superstars, Directors and film personalities join Mohanlal at the launch

Mohanlal has been in the limelight recently for his many successes like Drishyam 2 and Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham which bagged multiple National awards recently. Now he is all set to start yet another incredible journey as he launches his directorial debut Barroz – Guardian of D’ Gama’s Treasure, which is a 3D movie. The story is about Barroz (Mohanlal) has been protecting D’ Gama’s treasure for 400 years and has been entrusted to hand over the treasure to a true descendant of D’ Gama.

 

 

The 3D fantasy children’s film has been written by Jijo Punnoose, the man behind ‘My dear Kuttichathan’, India’s first 3D film. Barroz is to be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and cinematography is to be done by Santhosh Sivan. The film has American youngster Shayla MacCaffrey in the lead role and 13-year-old child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram will be scoring music for the film. Prithviraj Sukumaran is also said to be a part of the project. The film started rolling today with an official Puja that was attended by stars like Mammootty, Dilip, Prithviraj, Siddique, Prathap Pothen and directors Faasil, Sibi Malayil, Sathyan Anthikad, B Unnikrishnan, G Suresh Kumar among other film personalities.

Mohanlal had earlier taken to social media to write, “In the wonderful paths that life travelled through, without even realising it, I became an actor and a filmmaker. Cinema became my life and livelihood. Now, I am setting out on another wonderful journey; with the start of the Barroz shoot on March 24, I am making my debut as director. It is a blessing that I have Navodaya with me in their venture. I request that you support me as the Barroz journey gets underway.”
