Due to Covid restrictions in Kerala, film shoots have been delayed for a long while

With the test positivity rate steady at 10 percent and the third wave expected to set in anytime, Kerala is being extremely cautious about opening up and relaxing restrictions. This has taken a toll on the business sector especially the film industry with theatres shutting down and no big film shoots happening. This situation has forced producers to rethink about the proceeding with the shoot schedules in Kerala. It has been reported that seven Malayalam film producers are considering shifting to states like Tamil Nadu or Telangana.

Aashirvaad Cinemas is one of the leading production houses based in Kochi that is led by Antony Perumbavoor and he announced that his company has been forced to shift the shoot of a much awaited Mohanlal starrer directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran to Telangana. “I have taken up the issue of resuming film shooting with numerous people, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, but due to obvious reasons, nothing has happened. But, we cannot wait any longer. We all know that shooting outside Kerala is expensive, but still we have to do it,” said Antony Perumbavoor.
