Fake ‘royal’ swindles prospective brides

A 33 year old man has been posing as a relative of a royal family and swindling huge sums of money from prospective brides. The accused who is a school dropout from Mysuru has been arrested and remanded to police custody.


According to the police, he would speak fluently in American English and Spanish to women seeking alliances through matrimonial websites. The accused has many names Muttu K, alias Vinay K, alias Siddharth Raj alias Sandy. He was arrested based on a complaint given by one of the victims who alleged that he cheated her to the tune of 19 lakh. Investigations revealed that he cheated two other women and the police are investigating if more women have fallen into his trap.
The accused would gain the confidence of the women and extract money from them under some pretext.
Police sources say that the accused is a travel guide who has a 5 year old daughter and that he got this idea to cheat women after reading about a similar incident. Police have recovered high-end mobile phones, iphones and 6 debit cards from him. Further investigations are going on.
