Lockdown extended upto May 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation this morning and extended the nationwide lockdown upto May 3. The 21 day lockdown period that was imposed on March 25 ends today. Already a few states like Punjab,Odisha, Telangana and Tamilnadu extended it on their own. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation at the way people are responding to the lockdown even during the festive season.
The Union Government is planning a staggered resumption of economic activities. The Prime Minister held a meeting with all the Chief Ministers of the states through video conference on Saturday and a consensus was arrived at to continue the lockdown. The Prime Minister requested employers not to fire anyone from their jobs and to be sensitive to the needs of their employees. As on date India has 10,363 coronavirus cases and are in a much better position than many other countries as immediate action was taken and lockdown was announced in the beginning itself.
