Kerala prepares to open schools from November

The decision has received mixed responses from parents 

Even as Kerala continues to witness high daily count of Covid cases, the government has decided to open schools from November 1st, the day celebrated as ‘Kerala Piravi’. All classes between std 1 to 7 and 10 and 12 are to open from first and the rest of the classes are to commence from 15th of November. CM Pinarayi Vijayan made the announcement after consultation with the expert committee. Education minister V Sivankutty confirmed that all Covid protocols will be followed while reopening schools, including use of masks, social distancing, availability of sanitisers and vaccination for teachers and staff. There would be protocols to be followed for vehicles in which students are to be transported as well. Special masks for students are also being planned. Parents have received the news with mixed responses and are waiting for school authorities to come out with a plan. There have been suggestions for online or hybrid options to ensure that it is safe for children.
