About Collection – MAYA

Designer Punit Balana’s new collection “Maya” is an ode to the French novel Madame Bovary. While the free-spirited Maya sparks the inspiration behind the collection, Punit stays true to its roots mixing his signature block prints, using natural organic dyes, colors & eco-friendly techniques and sculptural shapes to create sartorial magic on the runway.

The character of Maya was very inspiring as she lived beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of social life. Modern, experimental, headstrong the character broke the shackles of society to live on her own terms. Taking inspiration from the ethos of the character the new collection showcases a lot of bold cuts, plunging necklines, quirky and freestyle, perfect for the upcoming summer.

Punit’s new collection “Maya” showcases accented chic silhouettes, with an overarching focus on modern abstract prints in various renditions paired together in a novel way. He has very creatively explored the contrast between linear shapes and fluid designs, creating silhouettes in chanderi, silk, and mulmul. Exquisite yet powerful, the collection includes trench coats, wrap around Skirts, Crop Tops, asymmetrical skirts and Punit Signature Sari with peplum jacket highlighted with subtle embroidery. Combining Style and comfort, the color palette includes hues of white, blue and mint making it perfect for the Indian summer. Punit’s new collection “Maya” is an allure that draws you in and keeps you wanting more!!
