Jyothika is one of the charming, cute and bubbly actresses in Tamil Cinema. She is known for her expressions and impressed many with expressive performances and her stunning looks. Jyothika debuted in 1999 with a cameo in the film, Vaali and went on to give several hits, including Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. As of now she has set her foot in woman-centric film and has giving blockbusters.

Here’s how 7 times Jyothika stole the show like none other!

Smitha in Pachaikizhi Muthucharam

Jyothika dared to play the role of an antagonist in the film Pachaikizhi Muthucharam in an era where heroines always played roles of lovely ladies. Her character was bold and deceiv and she succeeded in it.

Ganga in Chandramukhi

The film which is originally the remake of the Malayalam film and it demanded a strong female protagonist considering the strong character portrayal who can switch from one character to the other conveniently, we had Jyothika handling it quite efficiently. Even though Rajinikanth essayed the male protagonist role, Jyothika managed to make her mark with her strong screen presence and character switches.

Archana in Mozhi

This would probably be a silent movie for Jyothika as she plays the role of the one with hearing and speech impairment in this film which features her opposite Prithviraj. The role was probably one of the most challenging ones for the actress because she had to convey every emotion without speaking a single word. Jyothika yet again proved her mettle in the genre of female-centric films as she won appreciation for her powerful portrayal of Archana.

Vasanthi in 36 Vayadhinile

There is a reason why this film is special as it marked the return of Jyothika in the Tamil film industry after six years.  Portraying the role of a simple housewife, the film’s story is about the self-discovery of a woman, who had probably left her real and confident self behind amidst the chaotic and mundane life. The film, quite literally, was also a comeback of the confident Jyothika who had won hearts even before the sabbatical.

Prabhavathi in Magalir Mattum

Jyothika plays the key factor who reunites three friends after thirty years. Her role is dynamic, feisty and independent and one could not help but fall in love with Prabhavathy’s efforts for her mother-in-law and her friends. The film in itself has a unique plot and showcases the actress in the role of a documentary filmmaker.

Geetha Rani In Raatchasi

Raatchasi is a typical super-woman movie and it is set against the milieu of a rundown government school in a remote place that lacks basic amenities. Jyothika, as a strict headmistress, takes down the corrupt and outdated crumbling educational system.

Venba Pethuraj In Ponmagal Vandhal

Jyotika plays Venba, a lawyer reopening a 15-year-old case and spends 15 years to prepare this particular case, which Venba is determined has to be her first. She overcomes a series of failures and finally reveals the truth behind the murder and puts the criminals behind the bars.
