Today is being observed as International Chess Day and top chess personalities like FIDE President Arkady Dvorkevich, GM Viswanathan Anand, GM Vladimir Kramnik, GM Levon Aronian and GM Hou Yifan will be participating in the online event titled “Chess for Recovering Better”.
The online event is organised by the United Nations. It is to celebrate one of the most ancient and popular sport of all times. Chess is a sport that promotes equality, fairness, mutual respect and understanding among nations. The two hour event will be held via Zoom at 10 am Eastern Standard Time and will be broadcast live by the United Nations. Incidentally the motto of FIDE this year is to teach someone to play chess.
