Aishwarya Sridhar, a 23 year old woman is the first Indian to bag the award of the coveted wildlife photographer of the year. Her photo was titled ‘Lights of Passion’ and depicted a tree illuminated with fireflies. The fireflies and the stars in the sky formed a surreal galaxy around the tree. The category was under the Behaviour Invertebrates category.
Aishwarya is a wildlife photographer from Panvel. She captured the picture on a trekking trip to Bhandardara in June last year. Winning the award was a dream come true for Aishwarya. She had earlier won the Sanctuary Asia Young Naturalist award at age 14 and the Princess Diana award given to young talents who make a positive contribution to the society.
