Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s fusion group ”Shakti”, won the Grammy for the ”Best Global Music Album.” for their recent album”This Moment.”
Renowned flute player Rakesh Chaurasia won the Grammy for ”Best Global Music Performance” for his work on ”Pashto”. While Chaurasia won two Grammys, Zakir Hussain walked away with three awards.
In his speech, Shankar Mahadevan, thanked God, his family, friends and India and dedicated the award to his wife whom every note of his music was dedicated to.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated musicians Ustad Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan and Ganesh Rajagopalan for winning the Grammy Awards. He posted on X, that they have won hearts worldwide and made India proud.
