Indian-American economist wins Nobel prize

An Indian-American economist, Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Esther Duflo and Harvard professor Michael Kremer jointly won the 2019 Nobel prize for Economics. While both Abhijit and his wife Esther work for US based Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kremer works for Harvard University.
The prize includes 9 million kroner USD 918,000 in cash, a gold medal and a diploma. All the three winners will share the prize money equally. Esther is the second woman and the youngest ever to win the economics prize. They are extremely happy that their work has been recognized. Many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi ,Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi congratulated Abhijit for winning the coveted prize. They also had words of praise for Esther and  Kremer.
