India to provide humanitarian assistance and medicines to Ukraine

The Ministry of External Affairs has stated in a press briefing that India will send humanitarian assistance and medicines to Ukraine amidst the Russia-Ukraine crisis.


Arindam Bagchi, Spokesperson for the MEA said that steps are being taken to evacuate stranded Indian nationals in Ukraine by arranging for new flights. He requested people not to panic and emphasized that India is augmenting the presence of the MEA teams at border points in the neighbouring countries of Ukraine viz Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Hungary and Moldova. Indian nationals in the Ukraine have been instructed to try to go to the western part of Ukraine and contact teams and control rooms. The control rooms have been expanded and channels like WhatsApp and Twitter are functional.
The government of India is taking care of all expenses regarding the airfare. The Indian Air Force is ready and will be used if necessary. As of now only commercial aircrafts are used.
