India will be hosting the 71st edition of the Miss World 2023 pageant after a long gap of 27 years. Contestants from over 130 countries will be participating in a series of competitions. A press conference was held on June 8 in which Julia Morley, Chairperson and CEO of Miss World Organisation made the announcement. The reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska and Femina Miss India World 2022, Sini Shetty were also present at the conference.
The venue and date is yet to be decided but the finale is tentatively scheduled for November/December. There will be a series of competitions including talent contests, sports challenges and charitable initiatives too. Candidates will be shortlisted before the grand finale.
So far, six Indians have won the title of Miss World. They include Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mookhey, Priyanka Chopra and Manushi Chhillar.
