India reviews resuming of International flights from December 15


India reviews the decision to restart international flights from December 15 following the outbreak of a new Covid-19 variant Omicron in some countries.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is keeping a close watch on the situation.

A high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla was held due to the evolving global scenario. Various experts including VK Paul, Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister, senior officers from the Health Ministry and the Civil Aviation Ministry participated in the meeting. Various preventive measures were discussed.
After a long hiatus of more than 20 months, the government announced that international commercial flights would be resumed from December 15. Scheduled international flights were suspended from March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, special international passenger flights have been operating from July 2020 under air bubble arrangements formed with 31 countries.
