Girl Children Protection Day observed on Jaya’s birth anniversary

The 72nd birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha was observed as the Girl Children Protection Day. Both Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O.Paneerselvam cut  a 72 kg cake to mark the occasion. Sweets were distributed by the party cadres to members of the public. Cooked food was also offered to the public. A free medical camp was  held. The Chief Minister also distributed cash deposit certificates of Rs 25000/ to 12 girl children.

The State award for development of Girl Children was awarded to 9 year old Bhavadharani of Cuddalore district for working for girl children development, for campaigning for organ donation and against the use of plastic. The award carries a cash amount of Rs 1 lakh and a commendation certificate. Five schemes for the betterment of destitute girls was launched. As part of a green drive, 72 lakh  saplings would be planted across the state. The Chief Minister presented a solatium to the families of 14 party men who died while performing party duties.
