Former CJ Tahilramani given a farewell party

Lawyers of the Madras High Court gave a fitting farewell to former Chief Justice Tahilramani. They described her as a “Warrior Chief Justice” who had taken a ” bold and correct ” decision by tendering her resignation following the decision of the Collegium to transfer her to the Meghalaya High Court.
She had disposed of a total of 5040 cases including 2460 main cases and 2556 miscellaneous petitions in a span of one year. Besides this, she also heard 302 criminal appeals in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and disposed 25 cases. While addressing the gathering Justice Tahilramani said that she was able to dispose of 5000 cases due to the cooperation of the bench and bar and that she does not plan to take up any post retirement assignments. She said in the period of one year, she had got attached to Chennai for it’s good climate, less pollution, greenery and better infrastructure.
