One of the key parameters for the meeting between India and the visiting Chinese delegation to be led by it’s President Xi Jinping is the size of the runway in the airport. A second informal summit between India and China will take place in the month of October.

Chennai is one of the top contenders for the venue as  it not only has a large runway at it’s airport, it also boasts of a rich cultural heritage. Varanasi is also being considered but it is not sure if it will fit the bill. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will be visiting China in August as a preparatory visit ahead of the meet. Meanwhile the newly appointed Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong arrived in New Delhi on Sunday and took charge of his responsibilities.
