Neha Goyal who has been selected by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India for deployment in Indian Embassy South Korea as the Yoga Ambassador under the Systematic plan of Government of India talks about her journey so far and her plans to preserve the rich heritage of yoga.

Turning Point: I’m from Kolkata and have been staying in Bengaluru since six years. After my MBA I joined a bank as a corporate trainer. I started with yoga for my personal physical and mental fitness. As I pursued yoga I experienced increased personal power and self awareness and I completed many courses in yoga. I did yoga teachers training programme from The Art of Living and started teaching yoga and lead participants in yoga dance in World Cultural festival for The Art of Living. I got certified as YIC (Yoga Instructor Certificate). I am QCI certified yoga professional mentored by Ministry of AYUSH and have completed Masters in Yoga Therapy and am pursuing PhD in Yoga.

Motivational force: I started yoga for personal physical fitness but soon realised soon realised that yoga practice not only enhances the overall development of body, but also strengthens the emotional foundations of the mind. After a certain period of practice yoga takes over beyond motivation and starts flowing naturally in your being.

Position of Power: Under the systematic plan of Government of India to preserve the heritage of Yoga and expand its knowledge I have been selected by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India for deployment in Indian Embassy South Korea as the Yoga Ambassador. My role is to establish Indian Common Yoga Protocol and spread awareness in educational institutions and communities to spread harmony and peace through yoga in South Korea. I will train and equip local people in Korea and spread the ancient knowledge as per Yoga Protocol of India.

Challenges: The challenges that lie ahead are to broaden the horizon of yoga in South Korea. I will be responsible for the launch of the scheme for voluntary certification of Yoga Professional under Quality Council of India. The objective of my posting under Government initiative is to promote recognition of yoga as a great ancient art, culture and science of India. My work will also be inspired to contribute to the purpose of enlightened masters- One world family.

Bengaluru Matters: Bengaluru city has contributed in the journey of my yogic life. I want to thank my Guru – Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji for introducing me to yoga and ICCR for selecting me as the yoga ambassador. Yoga helped me channelise my energy in a focussed manner that further led me to this responsible position of a yoga ambassador.
