Dubai based Indian origin author Avni Doshi is one among six authors who have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2020 for her debut novel “Burnt Sugar”. The list was unveiled virtually in London after the judges re-evaluated the 13 longlisted novels published in the UK or in Ireland between October 2019 and September 2020.

Avni’s book is about a complex and unusual mother- daughter relationship with honest, unflinching realism. The Booker Prize is awarded on the basis of what the book does and is open to all writers in English, of any nationality but published either in the UK or Ireland. The Prize Ceremony is scheduled for November.
