The Rotary International District through a Pink Auto Project distributed driving licences to 200 women at a function held by the Rotary Club. The licences were distributed by Additional Director General of Police (Special Wing for Crimes against Women and Children).

The women were asked to become Mahila Police Volunteers. These volunteers would act as a bridge between the public and the police to fight crimes against women. The aim of the Pink Auto Project was to create self employment opportunities for women especially women from the poorer sections of society. This project is supported by various Rotary Clubs. So far, three auto-rickshaws have been distributed to women drivers. These autos were funded by Nina Reddy, the Chairman of Savera Hotels.
