Students from classes 9 to 12 in schools in Tamil Nadu returned to school after months of online classes. Though there were happy reunions of teachers and students, there was uncertainty and anxiety about resuming on- campus classes.
The schools were cleaned and sanitised and the teaching and non-teaching staff were vaccinated to ensure safety, Both the teachers and students were made to use hand sanitisers and their temperatures were checked. Students were asked to come on alternate days and not more than 20 were seated in a classroom. They had to wear masks and follow social distancing.. A hybrid lesson plan has been introduced.

Many school managements are collecting consent forms from parents for students to attend on-campus classes. Those parents who give their consent can send their children to school while the others can continue to attend online classes. Students with comorbid conditions like diabetes, asthma and other health issues are permitted to continue with online classes The teachers take classes both offline and online.
