Music maestro AR Rahman will be collaborating with UAE’s first woman filmmaker Nayla Al Khaja to produce music for the film ‘Baab’. The film is based on a woman who lost her twin sister in a mysterious manner and is plagued by a haunting rhythm in her ears. It has been written by Al Khaja and Masoud Amralia Al Ali.
Both Rahman and Khaja were present at the Cannes Film Festival to promote the film. Rahman started researching Arabic music when he was composing music for Majid Majid’s film ‘Muhammad : The Messenger of God’ in 2015. He is planning to use the Arabic melodic system called ‘maqam’ for the film ‘Baab’.
