Chennai tourists die in Ooty

Five tourists from Chennai die after their car in which they were travelling plunged off the Kalhatti Ghat Road. They were part of a seven member group of friends who had gone on a tour to Ooty. Two of them have been rescued and are being given treatment in hospital.

The two men were rescued by the police and the forest department. They were badly injured and managed without food and water for over 48 hours. The seven tourists had gone to the Nilgiris on September 30th. They left the next day to see the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve early in the morning and were not seen after that. Their vehicle had fallen into a gorge surrounded by bushes. A search party was formed to find them and only then the two survivors and the bodies of the five tourists were found. A thorough investigation has been ordered by the police.
