Three women were honoured at the Madras Week celebrations which took place in the city. Meena Muthiah for her contribution to the field of education and social activists Mythily Sivaraman and Ranjani Murugan were presented with awards during the celebrations.
It was organized by seven organisations to commemorate distinguished women of the city involved in women empowerment and social work. The services rendered by Rukmani Lakshmipathy and Radhabai Subburayan towards women empowerment in the Madras Presidency were highlighted. Prominent women viz Mary Clubwala Jadhav, founder of Madras School of Social Work, and Yashodha Shanmugasundaram, President of Women’s Voluntary Service of Tamil Nadu participated in the event.
