U.S. President Donald Trump nominated Gina Haspel to head the Central Intelligence Agency. She is the first woman tapped for the post. If confirmed,Haspel will be the first full time woman chief of CIA.Haspel has been reported to have overseen a CIA black site in Thailand where Al-Qaeda suspect Abu Zubaydah was water boarded after the 9/11 attacks.

When Ms Haspel was picked as Deputy Director last year, her career was lauded by veteran intelligence officials including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper who retired recently. However certain rights activists are unhappy that Trump chose someone who was involved in the harsh interrogation programme.
